Airports are usually perceived as merely a place to go when you need to take a plane, but Singapore’s latest expansion made us re-think about its purpose.
Changi Airport Singapore, awarded for the seventh time as the best airport in the world for 2019 by air travellers will soon share with its passengers a unique airport experience providing a range of world-class facilities, offerings and experiences according to Mr Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group.
Described as a futuristic terminal expected to strengthen the appeal of Singapore as a destination, Singapore's jewel Changi Airport, opening on April 17, will count among its wonders a World’s tallest indoor waterfall, an indoor forest of more than 2000 trees, topiary animals created by a team of horticulturists, a glass bottomed bridge along with an impressive addition of more than 280 new retail stores and restaurants.
The number of passengers that last year passed the 65 million is expected to be 117 million by 2035. Jayson Goh, a managing director at Changi says "When you've got a happy customer, they will return and that's the winning formula that gives Changi the competitive edge".
The complex was designed by Safdie Architects along with Mott Macdonald, and the water vortex was the work of Californian company WET, which also designed the famous Dubai water fountains.
